It's possible to show the satellite maptype just like Google Earth. You can zoom, but also skew and will see 3d objects etc and can just add your markers or kml-file! It's added in version 2.11b of my plugin.

If you don't want to see this maptype button then set the google maps api lower then 2.113 at the configuration of the plugin!
