You can add a weather and cloud layer on the google maps (=> version 2.16).
The weather layer will show current weather conditions from weather.com on your map. The name of cities, etc. on the map will disappear when this layer is shown.

The cloud layer only shows from zoomlevel 0 till 6.

The following parameters are available:
weather (0 or 1) - Enabling the weather layer will show current weather conditions from weather.com on your map.
weathercloud (0 or 1) - Enabling the cloud layer will add cloud coverage imagery to your map, visible at zoom levels 0 through 6.
weatherinfo (0or 1) - Suppress the rendering of info windows when weather icons are clicked.
weathertempunit - The units to use for temperature.

fahrenheit
weatherwindunit - The units to use for wind speed.
